This Request to Pre-Qualify (RTP) serves to pre-qualify Prime Contractors for the
construction of City of Yellowknife Lift Station No. 1 Replacement project.
 

The proposed works are listed below but may be increased or decreased at the discretion of the City of
Yellowknife. (The City):

 Furnishing of all materials, plant, equipment, tools, supplies, temporary lighting and heating,
transportation, labor, and superintendence necessary for the construction of the work as herein
specified and as shown on the drawings.
 Construction of new sewage lift station including but not limited to: building foundation and envelope,
mechanical, electrical and process work.
 Construction of a 300 mm new sewage forcemain from the new lift station to 44th Street which extends
for a length of 580 meters.
 Construction of civil undergrounds including but not limited to: two sections of sanitary sewer trunk, a
new sanitary flow splitting chamber, storm sewer, catch basins, and water main.
 Earthworks on site including but not limited to: excavation and backfilling of the new lift station, and
construction of new and upgraded parking lot, and truck turn-a-round area.
 Civil site work including but not limited to: tree clearing, organic stripping, landscaping, topsoiling, grass
seeding and fence installation.
 Facility commissioning.
 Testing all materials for approval for incorporation into the work.
 Selective demolition and decommissioning of the existing Lift Station including but not limited to: building
envelope and mechanical, electrical, and process equipment.
 Cleaning up of the site.
 Repair of all defects for one year after completion of the work.

This pre-qualification process is only for general contractors that have the ability and interest to act as a
Prime Contractor (as herein defined). For those intending to qualify as Prime Contractor, complete
Forms A, B and C.
Please note that this pre-qualification process has been identified as “Request for Pre-Qualification No. 2”. The
initial prequalification process commenced in March 2024 whereby three (3) Prime Contractors successfully
prequalified. Those three Prime Contractors then proceeded to the Tender process which concluded in August
2024. Upon review of the tender results the City cancelled all Tenders. The City has established a new budget
for this project and is undertaking the Pre-Qualification and Tender process again in 2025 with the objective of
securing a Prime Contractor and having construction commence in 2025.
All previous Pre-Qualified Prime Contractors will need to make submission through this second process and
requalify through this process.
Successfully pre-qualified respondents may be invited to submit a bid in a subsequent and separate process
and, if successful, enter into a contract directly with the City. All pre-qualified respondents will have the
opportunity to submit a bid for each project. Subcontractors and suppliers will not be pre-qualified under this
process.

Only the forms provided in this pre-qualification package will be considered during the Engineer’s
review of proponent’s submission. Additional information submitted, or multiple forms not requested,
will not be considered during the review.
