The City of Yellowknife has reviewed risks in relation to emergency situations and wildfire threat from the southern and western sides of the City.
Since 2015, the City has been using Fire Smart practices that incorporate vegetation management which is intended to decrease the amount of vegetation (both living and dead) that can fuel a wildfire.
This year the City is concentrating efforts on fuel reduction in 3 areas comprising 6.4 hectares: part of an area between Utsingi Dr. and the airport fence, wildland at the north end of Enterprise Drive, and the treed area off the bypass road just behind the properties on Taltheilei Dr. The attached maps outline the areas earmarked for treatment in 2021 and show the vegetation in these designated areas. Proponents are invited to submit proposals detailing the areas identified in this Request for Proposals document which would be proposed for treatment in accordance with the Scope of Work provisions listed in Section 5 below. |
